I was part of a product team at Pivotal Labs leading the UX research, visual work and interaction design. I worked closely with the client in building a social app connecting those who thought alike.

ThinkAlike was a very small startup with just two partners who had a vision of building an iPhone app for fans to connect and be in touch with celebrities, idols and favorite brands.
Along with the founder, a PM and four engineers I helped lead the initiative in validating their idea and building the social app from the bottom up.
The client came to us with a visually designed prototype from another agency. It had not been shown and tested with users so I wanted to evaluate the usability and concept before we dove into any other work.
After conducting user interviews and evaluative testing, we learned users wanted to feel a deeper sense of connection not just with their idols, but others who thought alike. We integrated features such as direct messaging to facilitate this need.
After gathering insights from the usability tests, I collaborated with my team members to brainstorm and sketch ideas for the results screen, explore different voting UIs and interactions. I then took those ideas, refined them in my sketches, wrote user scenarios and created wireframes for a quick prototype.
We researched the social app landscape, defined adjectives that represented ThinkAlike and explored three visual themes that embodied a refined, clean and stylish feel.

Part of our deliverable was creating a styleguide to ensure the consistency of future designs and aid developers.
